Blizzard is going to make a lot of people very happy this month. After years of waiting, the closed multiplayer beta test for StarCraft II is slated to launch later this month. The announcement was made by Blizzard's CEO Mike Morhaime during Activision Blizzard's financial conference call today. In addition, the game itself is still set for its big retail release sometime in mid-2010. This obviously means that Blizzard is very close to finishing the game itself and feels confident enough to let outside players take the game on a test run. Blizzard says they plan to invite players from all over the world to beta test the game once it begins. Naturally we will update you when and if Blizzard decides to give an exact date for the beta test to begin.
